The application of Sulfobutyl ether Beta Cyclodextrin Sodium ( Betadex Sulfobutyl ether Sodium, SBE-β-CD ) to transnasal drug delivery can improve the drug delivery mechanism mainly by increasing the permeability of nasal mucosa, increasing the solubility and stability of the drug, and improving the metabolic rate of the drug at the target site. 
The application of SBE-β-CD in ophthalmic drugs is mainly expected to increase the solubility and stability of drugs with poor water solubility and reduce the irritation to cornea.
